Delivery, damage and claims
How to inspect delivery, document damage and preserve evidence for any official claim process.
When receiving the item, inspect the parcel before opening it. If you see damage, photograph every side, the label and the affected areas.
Open carefully without unnecessarily destroying the box and protective materials. If the contents are damaged, it can be important to show how the item was positioned and what protection was present.
Do not discard the packaging until condition, functionality and completeness have been checked.
If damage is found, do not limit the evidence to one close-up of the broken part.
Photograph the outer parcel, internal protection, item position, overall damage and close details. Keep original files and, where useful, record a short video of any functional issue.
Compare this evidence with the pre-shipment photographs. The goal is to reconstruct the facts without immediately modifying or disassembling the item.
If the parcel or item is damaged, promptly check the procedure provided by the marketplace, carrier or coverage used.
Gather the shipment identifier, photos, damage description, evidence of value and required documents. Avoid repairs, disposal of packaging or modifications that could remove useful evidence before you understand the process.
Reporting windows can vary, so always use the current terms of the actual service involved.
During a claim, retain the outer box, internal packaging, label, receipt, tracking record and original photographs.
Do not try to recreate the packaging only after damage occurs; real images from the packing and opening stages are much more useful.
Dispose of materials only once you know they are no longer required by the applicable process.
