Before proposing:
- [ ] I know what type of item I want;
- [ ] I have valued mine independently;
- [ ] I know my minimum or negotiation room;
- [ ] I know how much cash I could add;
- [ ] I have current photos;
- [ ] I have documented the serial number and defects;
- [ ] I have listed accessories;
- [ ] I have disclosed modifications and repairs;
- [ ] I know which types of trade do not interest me.
Before accepting:
- [ ] I have identified the other item exactly;
- [ ] I have valued it independently;
- [ ] I know its condition and defects;
- [ ] I have checked modifications and originality;
- [ ] I know what is included;
- [ ] the cash adjustment is coherent;
- [ ] the delivery method is clear;
- [ ] I know which functions were not tested;
- [ ] I genuinely want the trade, rather than simply using it to avoid making a sale.
At handover:
- [ ] both items are the ones agreed;
- [ ] serial numbers checked;
- [ ] condition matches photos and description;
- [ ] accessories present;
- [ ] known defects confirmed;
- [ ] main functions checked;
- [ ] cash adjustment verified;
- [ ] final agreement summarised;
- [ ] final documentation retained;
- [ ] no last-minute change remains ambiguous.
Before shipping:
- [ ] both parties have documented the items;
- [ ] we know who ships when;
- [ ] carriers and tracking are defined;
- [ ] packaging is appropriate;
- [ ] the cash adjustment is handled as agreed;
- [ ] contact and delivery details are verified;
- [ ] declared values are clear;
- [ ] receipts and tracking are retained;
- [ ] we know what to do in case of delay or damage.
