Safety and documentation
How to keep a record of the agreement, valuations, condition and any cash adjustment.
Before completing the trade, summarise:
- item A;
- item B;
- agreed values;
- cash adjustment;
- who pays it;
- included accessories;
- disclosed defects;
- delivery method;
- any conditions still to be checked.
The text does not need to be complex; it needs to be unambiguous.
If the negotiation takes place on Muviber, keep these details in the main conversation.
Before giving up physical control of the item, keep:
- overall photos;
- serial number;
- defects;
- accessories;
- modifications;
- packaging where relevant.
Ask the other party to do the same.
Documentation does not replace official dispute procedures, but it makes it easier to reconstruct the condition of both items at the time of the trade.
If the trade includes money, treat the cash adjustment like any other payment.
Before handover, verify the actual status through the service being used.
Do not rely only on:
- screenshots;
- receipts sent by the other person;
- forwarded emails;
- promises that funds will arrive later.
If the payment is unclear, do not complete the irreversible part of the exchange.
A trade is already more complex than a sale because two items are involved.
Avoid adding unnecessary steps:
- links received to “unlock” a cash adjustment;
- couriers arranged by third parties without a clear process;
- separate payments that were not agreed;
- requests for security codes or credentials;
- sudden changes of recipient.
The further the process moves away from what was agreed, the more important it is to stop and verify.
