Final photography checklist

A final review to ensure the image set is complete, clear and consistent with the actual item.

Before publishing, check:

[ ] clean lens;
[ ] subject sharp;
[ ] no motion blur;
[ ] readable exposure;
[ ] realistic colour;
[ ] non-distracting background;
[ ] reflections controlled;
[ ] no important image is too dark;
[ ] no important information is lost in blown highlights;
[ ] the set looks consistent.

Check:

[ ] main view;
[ ] front;
[ ] rear;
[ ] sides where useful;
[ ] panels and connections;
[ ] serial number or plate;
[ ] high-wear areas;
[ ] defects;
[ ] visible modifications;
[ ] included accessories;
[ ] category-specific shots.

If an important piece of information is missing, take the photograph before dismantling the setup.

For each relevant defect, check:

[ ] it is visible in at least one photograph;
[ ] a contextual view exists where needed;
[ ] the detail is in focus;
[ ] lighting does not hide it;
[ ] lighting does not artificially exaggerate it;
[ ] colour and contrast have not been altered to change its appearance;
[ ] the photograph matches the listing description.

The images should allow the buyer to make an independent assessment.

After the session, you may have many nearly identical images.

Remove:

duplicates;
blurred photographs;
less sharp versions;
shots with worse reflections;
images that add no information.

Keep every photograph needed to show condition, defects, identifying details and included items.

The final set should be complete without being redundant: each photograph should have a clear purpose.
