Pedals: power, bypass and switching

Use a power supply that matches the pedal’s specifications. First verify the bypass signal, then engage the effect.

Check:

  • power-up and LEDs;
  • footswitch;
  • bypass;
  • battery operation where relevant;
  • stability of the power jack;
  • signal loss or intermittent behaviour when cables are moved.

Do not improvise voltage or polarity. Incorrect power can damage the unit.

If the pedal requires an unusual power supply, confirm whether it is included or add its cost to the final purchase price.
