Recording, live and DJ gear
Microphones, interfaces, mixers, monitors, controllers and studio or stage equipment.
Mixers, interfaces and controllers collect dust and are connected and disconnected frequently.
Avoid cables pulling on sockets, protect faders during transport and remove surface dust before it is pushed into gaps. If an input becomes intermittent, first test with a known-good cable and source.
Internal cleaning of faders and potentiometers requires suitable products and access; do not turn external maintenance into unnecessary disassembly.
Microphones and monitors directly convert air movement and pressure, so dust, liquids and impacts deserve particular attention.
Use suitable protection for microphones during transport and storage and do not apply liquids to the capsule. On monitors and loudspeakers, avoid touching cones and tweeters and keep any ventilation openings clear.
If a grille or protection can be removed according to manufacturer instructions, clean it separately and allow it to dry completely before refitting.
