Make a simple, well-grounded counteroffer

If the offer is close but not sufficient, reply with a concrete figure.

You can briefly explain why: condition, included accessories, an already competitive asking price or costs connected with the sale. There is no need to defend the item’s value through a long argument.

A good counteroffer communicates:

  • how far you are prepared to move;
  • what remains included;
  • whether delivery terms change;
  • whether the figure is genuinely sustainable for you.

Avoid an endless sequence of tiny reductions. Once you reach your limit, state it clearly.
