For remote purchases, ask for a targeted functional video

When you cannot test the item in person, a video can help verify some functions before buying.

Ask for a simple, specific sequence, for example:

  • powering the unit on;
  • operating the main controls;
  • testing relevant inputs or outputs;
  • showing the serial number or another detail already visible in the photographs;
  • demonstrating a disclosed fault where possible.

The video does not need to be professional. A short clip that answers the specific remaining questions is more useful.

A video does not replace a complete hands-on test and cannot remove every risk, but it can reduce uncertainty about important functions.
