How to value used pedals and effects

With pedals and effects, identifying the exact revision is important, especially when the same model name has remained in production for many years.

Check switches, pots, jacks, displays, MIDI or USB where present, power requirements and abnormal noise. Note modifications, repairs and the presence of Velcro or baseplate changes, which may matter to some buyers more than others.

Original box, manuals and accessories can matter more for limited editions, discontinued products or collectible units.

For models that remain readily available new, always compare the real retail price: immediate availability and warranty can cap the maximum realistic used value.
