How to value used amplifiers and cabinets

For an amplifier, verify the model, revision, power rating, configuration and, where relevant, production year.

Valuation should account for abnormal noise, channels and controls, valve condition, documented servicing, transformers and replaced components. For cabinets, check the speaker model and condition, impedance, wiring and cabinet integrity.

On vintage equipment, original transformers and speakers can materially affect price. On recent models, reliability and the cost of potential repairs often matter more.

Weight and fragility also affect market liquidity: an item that is difficult to ship may have a different local value from prices seen in broader markets.
