Checklist: valuing gear before listing it for sale
Before publishing a listing:
- identify the model, variant, year and specifications;
- document condition, faults, repairs and modifications;
- list included accessories and original parts;
- collect comparables that are genuinely similar and preferably recent;
- separate outliers and observe where the market clusters;
- adjust the range for condition, completeness and demand;
- choose your objective: quick sale, central market price or waiting for the upper range;
- account for costs and negotiation room.
At the end you should be able to explain in a few lines why you chose that price. If you cannot, the valuation probably still needs more evidence.
