Packing by gear type
Category-specific principles for protecting the vulnerable parts of common musical instruments and audio equipment.
With mixers and controllers, prevent package loads from being carried by faders, jog wheels, encoders or displays. Create a protected clearance zone above the control surface.
For monitors and speakers, consider the mass of the driver and protect the grille, cabinet and connectors without pressing on the cone. Lower corners should support the weight without breaking through the cardboard.
For a pair, consider separate parcels when the combined weight makes one package difficult to handle or protect correctly.
Rack equipment can be dense and heavy for its size. Protect the front and rear panels, connectors and handles, and make sure the weight is not carried by the controls.
Power supplies, IEC leads, footswitches and adapters should be grouped and secured in a separate area. Do not leave them loose on top of or behind the unit.
If the device travels installed in a rack, verify that the rack, screws, rails and panels are actually suitable for transport and that nothing can move inside.
