Read the seller profile as a whole
The seller profile is one part of the assessment, not an automatic certificate of trustworthiness.
Look at:
- how long the account has existed;
- whether profile information is consistent;
- other listings;
- any available history or reputation;
- consistency between the type of items, descriptions and photographs.
A new user can be completely legitimate, while an old account does not remove every risk. When little history is available, compensate with more verification of the individual transaction.
The goal is to build a coherent picture across the person, the item, the conversation and the way the purchase will be completed.
