Decide in advance whether to test in person or buy remotely

Seeing the gear in person lets you directly verify identity, condition and operation. Buying remotely gives you a wider choice, but requires more documentation before payment.

For an in-person test, prepare a short checklist and bring anything useful: cable, headphones, pick or other test equipment.

For a remote purchase, ask in advance for:

• additional photographs of important areas;
• serial numbers or identifying details where appropriate;
• a short functional video when useful for that type of gear;
• clear information about packaging, shipping and the agreed condition.

The buying method determines which evidence you can obtain before paying.
